OCS Server 2.0.x (1) - to newest - linux

Hi
Any hint to upgrade, is appreciated...

Have not found any guides, all i found is a way to backup all data, and install from scratch again, but that could not be the best/easiest way to do.
And found this :
"Solution: Yes of course ! All old versions can be upgrade to the latest version without problem."

So I need a guide, does any have this ?

Re: OCS Server 2.0.x (1) - to newest - linux

Yo!
Thanks, that was a quick reply :-)

But...

1/ backup your database ocsweb
- how ? - stop service ? and cp file ? - and where is the database files ?
2/ backup z-ocsinventory-server.conf, ocsinventory-ocsreports.conf and dbconfig.inc.php files
- location of the files ?
- z-ocsinventory-server.conf - located in /...
- ocsinventory-ocsreports.conf  - located in /...
- dbconfig.inc.php  - located in /...
3/ Install the latest version as normally
- i have to read the doc´s for that, I had used the shortest way, to run a WM-installation, and run the wizard ;-)
4/ Restore your database
- how ? - copy the files return ? or ??
5/ Restore z-ocsinventory-server.conf, ocsinventory-ocsreports.conf and dbconfig.inc.php files
- If 2/ - i can do that :-)
6/ Restart apache
- shutdown now -r :-)

as you can see, I´m new to this, but i want to learn, and I´m willing to hang in there...

Re: OCS Server 2.0.x (1) - to newest - linux

For upgrade: (on CentOS) following frankb ‘ schema

1/ backup your database ocsweb

Command : “mysqldump  -uuser -ppassword --result-file=pathtothefile/backup_ocsweb_hostname_date.sql ocsweb”

2/ backup z-ocsinventory-server.conf, ocsinventory-ocsreports.conf and dbconfig.inc.php files

command : “locate nameofthefile”

(results for CentOS)
-/etc/httpd/conf.d/z-ocsinventory-server.conf
- ? (I don’t seem to have this one on the server I am looking at right now …)
-/usr/share/ocsinventory-reports/ocsreports/dbconfig.inc.php

3/ Install the latest version as normally

http://www.howtoforge.com/how-to-instal … centos-5.5 (this doc is straightforward if you’re using CentOS)

4/ Restore your database

Command : “mysql -uuser -ppassword ocsweb < pathtothefile/backup_ocsweb_hostname_date.sql” (<- use the same value as in step 1 )

5/ Restore z-ocsinventory-server.conf, ocsinventory-ocsreports.conf and dbconfig.inc.php files

6/ Restart apache

Command (still for CentOS) :
/etc/init.d/httpd restart
OR
service httpd restart
